How do I convince my boyfriend to see a doctor for his heartburn?

Posted by Beth Goodwill in Q&A

He gets heartburn at least once a week, sometimes more often. I'm concerned because I've seen the effects of heartburn and acid reflux left untreated, as my uncle had this and ended up getting esophogus cancer. I would like my boyfriend to see a doctor to rule out any major medical issues, and get treatment. But he doesn't want to see a doctor, how to I make him go?

Does baking powder/soda mixed with water work for heartburn?

Posted by Beth Goodwill in Q&A

If so how much should I use? Milk isn't working and I've no Rennies or any other antacids in the house and I'm in quite a lot of discomfort :( If anyone has any other home remedies for heartburn that actually work, they would be very much appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

What exactly is heartburn and what does it feel like because?

Posted by Beth Goodwill in Q&A

occasionally I breathe in, and I get a sharp pain in my chest and I can't move or breathe out fast until it goes away. I feel like I have to hold my chest, and I go stiff. I'mnot sure if that is what heartburn is. It usually happens near my rib.
Do you mean something like a side stitch, where you get that pain after you run? Well, I usually get those pains lower. These ones are higher, and not always near the rib. Sometimes it's in the middle of my chest. Can't explain it.

What are some effective herbal cures for heartburn and indigestion?

Posted by Beth Goodwill in Q&A

What are some some mostly surefire and effective herbal cures for heartburn and indigestion. I am not interested in merely managing it .. but "fixing" it if I can.

Be sure to include a disclaimer in you answer stating that you are not offering unlicensed medical advice. I too, will admit that I realize that your "hearsay" does not promote constitute or claim a cure. The FDA and the medical establishment is understanably paranoid about herbs that might really work.

I keep getting heartburn or acid reflux when I work out. How can I prevent this?

Posted by Beth Goodwill in Q&A

I have eaten before a workout. I always eat after a workout. About an hour before I work out I usually drink a protein shake with fruit in it. But sometimes I get heartburn so bad I have to stop in the middle of my routine.
